At Keyham Lodge we offer all pupils the opportunity to gain an Entry Level qualification in English. This qualification enables pupils of all abilities to gain a nationally recognised qualification in English which has a practical application for their future careers.
The Entry level qualification is available in three levels and focuses on three key areas:
• Speaking, listening and communication
All of the work completed for this qualification is assessed by the school and can be personalized to meet the individual needs of the pupils.
For some pupils they can also progress onto a GCSE in English, which like the Entry Level qualification covers the three areas, Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing. Pupils gain 60% of their mark through a series of essays and speaking tasks that are called Controlled Assessments and which are done in the classroom. The final 40% of the mark is gained through an exam in the summer term of Year 11.
Our aim is to offer all pupils the opportunity to leave our school with at least one qualification in English and an enthusiasm and confidence in reading and writing.
