KS3 Catering

Whats included in the curriculum? 

The Catering programme of study and schemes of work in years 7, 8 and 9 are designed and created to introduce basic skills and techniques, in all aspects of cooking.  We begin in year 7, introducing, and equipping students with the necessary knowledge, and skills required to progress further into specific home cooking skills and WJEC Catering and Hospitality.  Units will be delivered quickly and monitored closely to begin planning for their KS4 Options where they have the option to undertake a BTEC level 1, and 2.  The BTEC assessment objectives have been firmly embedded into all aspects of planning for KS3

What project are included. 

Year 7  

  • Breakfast dishes
  • Breakfast with introduction to savoury 

Year 8  

  • Baking and pastry making  
  • Savoury Baking and Pastry making  

Year 9  

  • Indian cuisine 
  • Chinese cuisine

What options will I have at GCSE in Art & Design? 

When moving into Keystage 4 you will be put on either of the following courses : 

  • BTEC Home Cooking skill
  • Level ½ Vocational Award Hospitality and Catering
