Physical Education and Sport

"The aim of the PE, Sport and Outdoor Education department at Keyham Lodge School aims to create positive attitudes towards physical activity, promoting lifelong physical and mental well-being."

Our KS3 and KS4 offers:

Ks3 - Core PE lessons take place once a week for each year group (Covid timetable restrictions). Core PE lessons are designed to best fit the needs of our students allowing them to experience a wide range of sports and physical activities whilst being as active as possible during the lesson. Lessons also give students knowledge, experience and skills that will prepare them for KS4 (Btec, DofE)

KS4 - We offer BTEC LEVEL 2 SPORT (1 GCSE A* - C equivalent). Studnets will complete one exam (Fitness for Sport and Exercise), one compulsory piece of coursework (Fitness for Sport and Exercise) and two further pieces of coursework from the remaining options. (Applying the Principles of Personal Training, The Mind and Sports Performance, The Sports Performer in Action and Leading Sports Activities).

In KS4 we also offer every student the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme with the aim that every student that is educated onsite achieves the DofE Bronze award.

The PE team at Keyham Lodge also strives to provide opportunity for students to take part in competitive sports. We have a successful football team and various sporting events throughout the school year competing against other schools.
