Karl

I joined Keyham around 5 years ago and have been coordinating and developing the Keyham Construction Pathway. I am so privileged to be able to work on 7 acres of agricultural land to replicate real life working environments for our students. Offering 3 qualifications there is no time to sit still – especially through the winter months!

Mechanics
David Selby
Teacher of Mechanics
At 11 years of age, it was apparent that I had a passion for anything mechanical. I started to re-build small lawn mower engines for a friend of the family. Carrying on this passion and at the age of 16, I started work as an apprentice, spending 1 year at college and gaining my first qualification in Vehicle Mechanics. Progressing on to HGV maintenance, I continued working within mechanics work shops gaining valuable industry knowledge.
For the last few years, I have worked in specialist provisions, delivering and signing off qualifications for IMI (In Motor Vehicle Industries) and SEG awards.
In my workshops, I provide a safe, working environment, allowing all students to explore new practices and ways of working. I am privileged to facilitate the development of the young students, ultimately securing a pathway to future employment.
