INTENT STATEMENTS
Core PE - "The PE and sport department at Keyham Lodge School aims to create positive attitudes towards physical activity, promoting lifelong physical and mental well-being whilst ensuring inclusion for all. Students will embrace challenge and enjoy learning."
BTEC Sport – "The Sport department aims to promote a passion for the science behind sports and physical activity. Students will enjoy learning and developing their knowledge of the subject."
Our KS3 and KS4 offers:
KS3 - KS3 have 3 PE lessons per week. Core PE lessons are designed to best fit the needs of our students allowing them to experience a wide range of sports and physical activities whilst being as active as possible during the lesson. Lessons also give students knowledge, experience and skills that will prepare them for KS4 (Btec and DofE)
KS4 - We offer Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Sport. Students will complete 3 components:
- Component 1: Preparing Participants to Take Part in Sport and Physical Activity
- Component 2: Taking Part and Improving Other Participants Sporting Performance
- Component 3: Developing Fitness to Improve Other - Participants Performance in Sport and Physical Activity
In KS4 we also offer every student the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme with the aim that every student that is educated onsite achieves the DofE Bronze award.
KS4 Pathway students will gain exposure to PS16 options. For example; College visits (Lough, WQEII, Loughborough University) They will also have the opportunity to experience careers in sport.
The PE team at Keyham Lodge also strives to provide opportunity for students to take part in competitive sports. We have a successful football team and various sporting events throughout the school year competing against other schools, such as varsity which includes badminton, dodgeball, Danish longball and Volleyball.
